The story of this engine

Freightliner's M2 106 was launched with Mercedes-Benz MBE900 engines as standard, and the 7.2-litre version is the OM926LA. This engine came out of a 2006 M2 106, the medium-duty conventional truck that replaced Freightliner's older FL range.

The OM926LA is the largest of the Mercedes-Benz 900-series family. It displaces 7,201 cc across six cylinders, uses unit injection with a turbocharger and intercooler, and in Detroit Diesel's MBE900 marketing was rated up to 350 hp. In Europe the same engine served in the Axor. The exact rating of this unit should be read from its plate, as the M2 was offered with several outputs.

A 2006 US engine predates the 2007 emission change, which can make it simpler in exhaust hardware than later versions, but the control unit and sensors still need to suit your truck. On inspection, check oil pressure and blow-by, coolant and oil for mixing, the turbo, and the unit pump harness.
