Get a quote on an engine or transmission
Tell us the vehicle, engine code or VIN and we send back a written price on the right engine or transmission, delivery included, usually the same working day.
Looking for an engine price or a gearbox quote you can actually plan around? Send us the details below and a real person at Home of Engine & Transmissions checks stock, confirms fitment against your engine code or VIN, and replies with a written quote that includes VAT and delivery to your door or workshop.
What you can get a quote on
- Used engines for sale: imported, low-mileage car and bakkie engines for Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Isuzu, Audi and more. Browse used car engines.
- Gearboxes and transmissions: manual gearboxes, automatic transmissions and DSG units, priced as complete units. Browse transmissions.
- New crate engines: new head, block and sump assemblies for popular workhorses like the Toyota 1KD, 2TR and 4Y. See crate engines.
- Heavy-duty truck engines and truck transmissions: Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit, Deutz, Isuzu and Mercedes-Benz engines, plus ZF, Allison and Eaton truck boxes. See the truck bay.
- Auto spare parts sourced to order: cylinder heads, blocks, turbos and hard-to-find parts. Spare parts.
How to get the most accurate price
The quickest quotes come from four details: the vehicle make and model, the year, the engine code (stamped on the block or on the plate under the bonnet) and your VIN. With those we can match the exact replacement engine or transmission, tell you what is included, such as turbo, injectors or ancillaries, and avoid the costly mistake of buying a unit that will not fit.
No engine code? No problem. Send photos of the old engine or gearbox and the licence disc on WhatsApp and we will identify it for you.
What every quote includes
- The unit price in rand, VAT included, with no hidden extras.
- Free delivery anywhere in South Africa on orders of R50,000 and above. Below that, and for Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini and Malawi, the delivery cost to your town is shown on the quote.
- Warranty terms for that unit in writing. Read the warranty.
- What comes with the engine or gearbox, and what you will need to swap over from the old unit.
Workshops, fleets and resellers
Fitting centres, mechanics, fleet managers and parts resellers can ask for trade pricing, bulk and repeat-order quotes, and stock alerts on the codes you replace most. If you buy regularly, look at our Workshop Trade Partner Programme for extended warranty on approved units and a dedicated account manager.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly will I get my engine or gearbox quote?
Most quote requests are answered the same working day, often within the hour on WhatsApp. Truck units and parts sourced to order can take a little longer while we confirm availability.
Is the price quoted including VAT and delivery?
Yes. Every price includes 15% VAT. Delivery is free anywhere in South Africa on orders of R50,000 and above; for smaller orders and cross-border deliveries, the delivery cost to your town is listed on the quote so you know the full amount before you pay.
What details do you need to quote the right engine?
Vehicle make, model and year, the engine or gearbox code, and your VIN. If you do not have the code, WhatsApp photos of the unit and your licence disc and we will identify it.
Do you give trade or bulk prices to workshops and resellers?
Yes. Workshops, fleets and parts resellers can ask for trade pricing and repeat-order quotes. Regular buyers can apply for the Workshop Trade Partner Programme.
Can you quote delivery outside South Africa?
Yes. We quote delivery to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Eswatini and Malawi. Import duty and clearing in your country are paid by the buyer, and we supply the invoice and engine number paperwork.
Is a quote binding or do I have to pay anything to ask?
Asking for a quote is free and there is no obligation. Stock is sold first come, first served, so a unit is only reserved once it has been paid for.
