How a unit reaches your workshop

Six steps take you from a VIN number to a checked engine or transmission standing in your workshop.

Buying a replacement engine or transmission should not feel like a gamble. This is how an order moves from your first message to a running vehicle, and what we need from you at each stage.

1. Send us your VIN or engine code

WhatsApp or email us the vehicle’s VIN, the engine code if you have it, and a photo of the old unit’s identification plate or stamping if possible. Tell us whether the vehicle is manual or automatic and where it needs to be delivered.

2. We match the unit and quote

We check the codes against our stock and sources and confirm the correct unit for your vehicle. You get a written quote in rand that includes VAT and the delivery cost to your address, so there is no extra charge waiting at the end. If we cannot find the right unit, we tell you rather than offering something close.

3. Pay in full to reserve

Stock moves quickly and is sold first come, first served. A unit is reserved for you once it is paid in full by EFT or card. We do not offer lay-by, deposits or instalments.

4. Inspection and code check

Before the unit is crated we verify the engine or gearbox code again, inspect it for damage, leaks and missing parts, and run a compression test where the engine type allows it. We also confirm which ancillaries are fitted.

5. Dispatch from Potchefstroom

Your unit is crated and dispatched from our headquarters in Potchefstroom. You receive the courier’s tracking details so you can follow it to your door. We deliver to all nine provinces and to eight SADC countries; for cross-border orders the buyer pays customs duties and import charges.

6. Fitment and warranty registration

Have the unit fitted by an RMI-registered workshop with new oil, filters, thermostat, plugs and coolant, a radiator flush and, on belt-driven engines, a new timing belt. Keep the fitment invoice and register the warranty with us. If you do not have a workshop, we can put you in touch with a partner workshop near you.

Inspect the crate and the unit when it arrives and report any transport damage straight away, before signing it off with the courier where possible.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you need my VIN or engine code?

The same model can be fitted with several different engines and gearboxes over its production run. The VIN or engine code tells us exactly which one your vehicle has, so we quote the unit that will bolt in and connect up correctly.

Can I pay a deposit to hold a unit?

No. Stock is sold first come, first served and a unit is only reserved once it is paid in full by EFT or card. We do not offer lay-by or instalments.

How do I know the unit was checked?

Before crating we verify the engine or gearbox code against your details, inspect the unit and run a compression test where the engine type allows it. Ask us if you would like to know what was found on your unit.

Do I have to use an RMI-registered workshop?

For the warranty to apply, yes. The unit must be fitted by an RMI-registered workshop using the new parts and fluids listed in our warranty policy, and the warranty must be registered with your invoice.
